Kings Weston House

Kings Weston House, Bristol, is a beautiful early Georgian grade I property designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, the Architect of Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard.

The pictures opposite illustrate Kings Weston House after renovation in 2008 and before work started in 2000.

Hardy Associates were employed by the then potential purchaser of Kings Weston House in 1997. Their initial mandate was to compile a dilapidations survey of the property and to consider what the immediate costs were likely to be, to make the building water tight and secure. We were then asked to compile a feasibility study on a sustainable use for the property – taking into account its former history – as well as, compiling a time schedule and a schedule of work necessary to renovate this beautiful building back to its former glory.

Once the property had been acquired by our client in 2000, Hardy Associates were commissioned to project manage the proposed refurbishment works, compiling detailed drawings, specifications, schedules and costings of each aspect and phase, as funds and budgets permitted.

We were responsible for gaining local authority and English Heritages consents required through out the works. Hardy Associates have also carried out a full analysis of security and fire risk with this project and liaised with the local Environmental Health department to enable the highest quality of catering to be carried out at this three hundred year old property.

Having completed the emergency works initially required and having got the main House to a high standard, further phases are now being scheduled for projects in the grounds of Kings Weston House. A long-term schedule of general maintenance has also been completed for the many years to come.

Kings Weston House is now a renowned business and conference centre of Bristol and holds over 40 weddings each year, together with many corporate events and parties. The first and second floors are leased out as offices. This ensures that the rooms are not subdivided, as is likely if they were used as bedrooms in a hotel.

Kings Weston House has tested every aspect of our skills which we have thoroughly enjoyed. Our present and future clients now benefit from this substantial experience.
